Stamping Song
She slams down her heel within sea green boots,
Tossing behind her a twist of straw shaded hair.
Biting at the clouds,as the sombre night owl hoots,
Onto the wide,pale moon,she cries her midnight prayer.
Sitting cross legged at her knee,the bite of the bow here judders,
Drawing forth from an ivy fiddle,a swift,tumbling reel.
They hear it out in the teal deep,at sail and brig and rudder,
Her stamping upon the wide,curved land,bruising her leather heel.
The sky has bled into an amber dawn,
Streaked with feathered clouds ‘neath ivory sun.
The velvet noses that nuzzle and rub,of mother deer and fawn,
And a herd of rugged,bleating goats,down the mountain,run.
The spreading song of a rippling reel still echoes o’er the hills,
Through mossed tree limbs,and across sunset seas-
It paints the wind with the dew caked frost,it chills-
The passing breath of rain touched breeze.
